Title: Enhancing Soldier Protection Against Evolving Threats

Principal Investigator: Heng Ban, PhD

Supporting Agency: Department of Defense – Army Research Lab

Grants Officer: James Campbell

Project Goals: The overall goal of this consortium is to advance the foundational technology developments and provide a mechanism-based understanding that directly supports the Soldier Lethality and Protection program, a high-interest, high-impact area specified by the Army, to improve soldier protection and performance and enhance lethality under current and evolving threats.

Specific Aims:

Enhance the understanding of battlefield injury mechanisms, such as those due to blast, ballistics, and directed energy, Advance soldier armor and materials technologies to improve protection, mobility, and performance, and Innovate in Army-related areas using the latest science and technology advances in sensors, data sciences, additive manufacturing, quantum computing, and energy storage.
